I preach the importance of sunscreen all the time but here’s a little secret: I didn’t apply sunscreen consistently until two month ago 😩 I just never found one that I could wear happily.. until I found Skinfood’s Aloe Watery Sun Water Gel. I’ll start off by saying that this sunscreen made me like sunscreen. Here’s why:

INGREDIENTS

Cyclopentasiloxane, Zinc Oxide, Water, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Octyl Methoxycinnamate (Octinoxate), Octyl Salicylate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Butylene Glycol, Cetyl Peg/Ppg-10/1 Dimethicone, Lauryl Peg-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Titanium Dioxide, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Propylene Carbonate, Sodium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Aluminum Hydroxide, Stearic Acid, Fragrance, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract, Hizikia Fusiforme Extract, Tocopherol

PROTECTION

Based on the ingredients, this is a hybrid physical/chemical sunscreen, meaning you should be applying 20 minutes prior to sun exposure. The SPF is enough for daily use and the PA+++ is great coverage.

PACKAGING

skinfood.jpgThe packaging is a light flat squeeze tube. I do like that it’s soft and not made of hard plastic. This will help me get every last drop 😆 The cap locks securely, which is something I can always appreciate. I love this type of packaging because I can stand the it up and dispense product easily. It contains 50ml of product.

SCENT

There is a definite aloe scent with a hint of cucumbers- like a fresh body wash.  The smell goes away quickly, but it can be strong on application. It’s actually quite enjoyable but it does start off strong, so be cautious if you’re sensitive to smells.

PERFORMANCE

texture.jpgThe name doesn’t do a great job of explaining this sunscreen. The texture is not watery (especially compared to Missha’s very watery sun milk). The product comes out of the tube an opaque white and runs slowly. There is a bit of slip, which gives it that gel consistency.

The strange name aside, it applies extremely well! It absorbs right away and within a minute, the feeling of sunscreen is completely gone. Also, no white cast 👻

after.jpg

I especially enjoyed this one because I don’t feel like I’m wearing sunscreen and it’s flawless under makeup. My oily T-zone didn’t feel out of control with this on and I experienced no dry flakes!

In short, I LOVE this sunscreen. As someone who really really does not enjoy wearing sun protection, I actually was able to get into a habit of applying every morning because this didn’t feel much different from a morning moisturizer.

TL;DR

The biggest con is the scent. If you can handle scents, definitely give this a go. It’s super lightweight and disappears completely once dried. It hydrates the skin effectively and is flawless under makeup as well.

It doesn’t claim to be waterproof, but Skinfood does have a waterproof version (as well as other varieties). I haven’t tried the others so I can’t say if they’re the same. I do love this gel version for daily use!

I don’t know about you, but I can say that this one will be my everyday sunscreen from now on 🙌
